MNDA Challenge Weeks 17 and 18

Weeks 17 and 18 of my fundraising challenge

http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/BenjaminSchiffer-Harte

Again guys due to going away to Dorset for a break which was in the middle of nowhere and then making my new abode as nice as possibly can, I am only just sitting down to write this.

However good news.. I managed a PB  for my Half Marathon on a tough course. This should mean that on courses such as Reading and Silverstone I can post an even faster time. Training is really helping and lets just see how I get on.

I added pics of my runs to the blog last week just to help give an idea of where I am running- any feedback would be great.

Week 17
I ran 3 times with a total of 31.4k including the half marathon.

Run 1 Monday 5th August
A longer distance along the Jubilee and into Eton Wick Village.

Nike App Result. Distance: 10km Time: 42:07 Avg Pace: 4'12''

Run 2 Thursday 8th August
I was aiming to do the Long Walk again but decided to run the Thames Path and run the East side of the Home Park.

Nike App Result. Distance: 10km Time: 42:00 Avg Pace: 4'12''

Run 3 Sunday 11th August
This was my 3rd Half Marathon of the year and 1st since the Reading Half on March 3rd.
It was a Club Championship race which gave it an added edge. Myself,Tam, Chris Rose, Pete Walker and James Quincy all started in a pack and it slowly became just myself and Chris towards the end of loop 1.

Once we got past halfway I found myself getting further ahead and for long parts of the loop I couldn't hear anyone behind me. My pace was getting quicker and stretching the lead. The final 400m was on the playing fields at Caldicot school and it going anti-clockwise around the field I could see Pete so I pushed on ahead and crossed the line in 1st place. Chris finished 3rd but it doesn't affect his lead because he has enough 1st and 2nd place finishes.

Nike App Result. Distance: 21.4km Time: 1:28:01 Avg Pace: 4'06''
Official Result Distance: 21k Time:1:28:08 (GPS Signal lost at times)

Week 18
3 more runs this week with 2 of them being hilly in the Dorset village of Uploders and the long 16k training run along the Kennet and Avon Canal in Wiltshire.

Run 1 Wednesday 14th August
A short early morning run only a day after walking 17k along the Jurassic Coastal Path.
Nike App Result. Distance: 6.02km Time: 27:24 Avg Pace: 4'33''

Run 2 Thursday 15th August
A similar route to yesterday except this one included a half mile hill without a plateau for stopping.
Nike App Result. Distance: 7.54km Time: 34:30 Avg Pace: 4'34''

Run 3 Saturday 17th August
I saw a friend of mine and Jo's post that she had ran 16k and that inspired me to do one myself. Normally on my own I don't get past 10k but need to step up the limit. This one started along the Kennet and Avon Canal, towards the town of Trowbridge and up to Hilperton Marina. Instead of turning around and going back again I ran across to Paxcroft Mead, past the new Trowbridge Rugby Club and down Semington.

MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THIS BLOG
Remember  I am doing this blog to raise awareness and money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association and have set up and fundraising page on the virgin money giving site.
Jo's grandad was a hugely popular figure in the local community hence why I am pleased a lot of the running is taking place in areas he knew well.

For anyone wishing to donate please go to the donation page below.
