Sorry folks that this is almost 3 weeks late but due to lack of time and internet I have been unable to log my blogs.
These have been quiet weeks compared to most and this is due to me starting my teaching at Eton College for Summer School. Luckily I am staying close to the River Thames and Jubilee River and there is plenty of open space.
Week 15
I ran 3 times and managed to get just over 20k.
I am going to try adding pics to my blogs which show where I have run. This will give an indication of pace and location.
Run 1 Monday 22nd July
This was one that started at Eton College, went up to the Jubilee River by the M4 underpass at Slough, along the Jubilee for a bit and I headed South towards South Common and back into Eton via the high street.
Nike App Result. Distance: 5.25 km Time: 22.20:29 Avg Pace: 4'15''
Run 2 Thursday 25th July
This was one that started also started Eton College and followed most of the same route as Run 1.
Nike App Result. Distance: 5.36 km Time: 23:43 Avg Pace: 4'25''
Run 3 Saturday 27th July
This was a bit different. I had stayed at my new flat in Taplow overnight as it was a a day off for me and Jo from teaching.
I set off around Taplow Village, down to the A4 and followed the Jubilee River towards the Pineapple Pub by Dorney and headed back North towards the J Sainsbury Roundabout.
Not as quick as last weeks 10k but almost as quick at the British 10k.
Nike App Result. Distance: 10 km Time: 40:03 Avg Pace: 3'58'
Week 16
Run 1 Tuesday 30th July
I wanted to see if I could extend my route a bit along the Jubilee River and so I ran towards Eton Wick Village and came through the houses at the bridge which links Slough and Eton Wick together.
After crossing the Eton Wick Road I headed down to the River Thames and followed along until Brocus Field and back along Eton High Street.
Nike App Result. Distance: 10 km Time: 40:03 Avg Pace: 3'58'
Run 2 Saturday 3rd August
Something entirely different to the norm. I had heard about the Copper Horse which is at the end of the Long Walk from Windsor Castle so decided to run to it and back.
I wasn't prepared for the mental strength needed to run in a straight line and back especially one where the horizon did not seem to disappear.
' It is a little less long than the three miles of popular rumour being around 2.65 miles (2 2/3rds miles or 4.26 km) from George IV Gateway at Windsor Castle to The Copper Horse.' http://www.thamesweb.co.uk
I will probably use this as a good training run because it has a nice level of elevation and if I ran there and back 4 times I would cover a half marathon distance.
FUTURE RACES
Helpers Half Marathon (Burnham Joggers) 11th August
Wooburn Park 10k on 8th Sept
London Zoo 10k on 15th Sept
Windsor Half Marathon 29th Sept
Henley Half Marathon 13th Oct
MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THIS BLOG
Remember I am doing this blog to raise awareness and money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association and have set up and fundraising page on the virgin money giving site.
Jo's grandad was a hugely popular figure in the local community hence why I am pleased a lot of the running is taking place in areas he knew well.
